Suncorp launches spirit fund to support local clubs and encourage confident girls

The Confident Girls Foundation is proud to partner with the Suncorp Group to launch the Suncorp Spirit Fund – a community grants initiative aimed at supporting Queensland netball clubs impacted by natural disasters.

The Suncorp Spirit Fund, launched last week, will provide grants of up to $2,500 to netball clubs throughout the state that have been impacted by floods, fires, severe storms or cyclones, with the funds able to be spent on rebuilding and restoring facilities, purchasing new equipment or holding events to further support grass-roots netball.

The Confident Girls Foundation, the official charity partner of Netball Australia, partners with grass-roots netball and service provides across the country to support girls and their communities in times of adversity. Since officially forming in 2017, the foundation has supported 73,774 girls nationally and raised over $1.6 million.

CEO of the foundation, Nadine Cohen, said she was excited to be partnering with the Suncorp Group to further support Queensland girls and netball clubs impacted by natural disasters.

“Netball plays a critical role in bringing women and girls together – giving them the opportunity to learn, play and grow in a supportive environment,” Ms Cohen said.

“Unfortunately, throughout Queensland too many of our netball clubs have been impacted by severe weather – storms, bushfires, floods and cyclones – and it prevents them from not only opening their doors, but from providing our girls with somewhere to go.”

Lisa Harrison, Suncorp’s CEO Insurance Product & Portfolio said the Group is proud to be furthering their relationship with Netball Australia and launching the Suncorp Spirit Fund and encouraged Queensland netball clubs to get involved.

“At Suncorp, we’re incredibly passionate about supporting women and helping girls reach their potential and achieve their dreams – and netball provides the perfect platform to directly and positively impact the wellbeing of girls across the country,” Ms Harrison said.

“The Suncorp Spirit Fund will empower local netball clubs impacted by natural disasters to rebuild, reopen and continue to support and encourage girls across the state to grow into confident, strong leaders of tomorrow.”

The Suncorp Spirit Fund community grants initiative is designed to support local netball clubs throughout Queensland impacted by natural disasters.
