Netball Bushfire Relief Efforts

Over the past few months we have seen communities, individuals and business band together to support those in need. We have seen overwhelming financial aid from Australians and those overseas. We have seen volunteers and our emergency service workforce remain strong and unrelenting in the face of one of Australia’s most devastating natural disasters.

There have been inspiring stories of people driving in petrol and water to stranded communities, strangers housing those who’ve lost everything and kind hearts protecting what’s left of our precious wildlife. Our whole country is uniting in incredible ways.

Through all of this, I have wondered what it is the Confident Girls Foundation can do. Our purpose is clear; to support the growth of strong women and girls, capable of standing up for themselves and their communities. In the aftermath of the current bushfire crisis we want to ensure girls around Australia still have access to the resources they need to do just that.

The Confident Girls Foundation are committed to providing the long-term support needed through these devastating circumstances. As a part of this commitment we have set up a Confident Girls Foundation Bushfire Fund, to ensure we can aid the recovery and rebuilding of netball communities across Australia when this state of emergency has ended.

We will continue to work closely with our netball family to be creative about how we support communities as they emerge from this crisis, but we would encourage, while many communities are still under threat, to donate to the Netball Australia Red Cross fundraiser. The Red Cross are doing amazing work and a collective immediate response, to financially support those at risk, has been highlighted as what’s most needed.

Both the Confident Girls Foundation Bushfire Fund and the Netball Australia Red Cross Fundraiser are a part of the Netball Bushfire Relief effort; an Australian wide initiative led by Netball Australia to acknowledge this emergency. These platforms are just some of the many ways that Australia’s netball leaders are supporting bushfire affected areas. If you’re interested in getting involved, you can read more about this on the Netball Australia website.

We are not yet at the end of this crisis but together we can get through these difficult times. We wish you, your family and communities safety and strength.

Sincerely,
